Who are Learn To Be’s students?

Our students come from underserved, low-income communities. Many of our students are foster youth, homeless youth, students attending Title 1 schools, students receiving free or reduced lunch, and families receiving government assistance. Some students have IEPs or are diagnosed with a learning disability or behavior disorder.

Our students are primarily K–12 learners from across the United States. At times, we accept high school graduates who are awaiting college; however, we currently do not accept:

  • Students enrolled in community college
  • Students taking remedial-level college courses
  • GED candidates
  • Students who only need help preparing for a single test

We are working to expand our offerings in the future to support college-level learners. However, at this time, our volunteer tutors, who are mainly high school students, along with some college students and retirees, can only support students in high school and below.
