Fundraising for Chapters

One way chapters can make an impact is through fundraising for Learn To Be. Learn To Be relies on grants and donations to keep our tutoring free for LTB students. 

There are many different ways your chapter can approach fundraising and if desired, you can try multiple fundraising opportunities throughout the academic year. If your chapter is through your school, or another organization, be sure to loop in the correct individuals and receive approval first. 

Some fundraising ideas include:

  • Utilize LTB’s fundraising tool - LTB recently launched a fundraising feature for tutors that can be found in the portal. LTB’s fundraising tool functions in a way that is similar to other fundraisers like “GoFundMe”. With this new LTB feature, you can ask people in your network or local community to donate to LTB through your fundraising link. You can approach this as a “tutor-a-thon”, in which donors can pledge money for each hour of tutoring you complete towards your goal. 
    • Any money raised by individual chapter members using LTB’s fundraising tool will be credited collectively towards the chapter’s goal. 
  • Restaurant Fundraiser - partner with a local restaurant to donate a percentage of all sales from a select date. You can use websites such as groupraise.com to help locate participating restaurants in your area. 
  • Bake Sale - bake sales are popular in high schools and on college campuses! Inquire with your school about hosting a bake sale on campus and coordinate with chapter members about baking items for the sale. 
  • Local Businesses - reach out to local businesses if they’d like to sponsor your chapter. Sometimes businesses will even match donations! 
  • Community events - you can hold events in your community such as a car wash, pancake breakfast, 5k walk or run, or bingo night and donate the proceeds or participation fee. 

Helpful Tip: Each tutor in the chapter can utilize their own fundraising tool. All donations made via these individual fundraising links will count towards the overall chapter’s total goal. The fundraising tool is the easiest to use and preferred method for fundraising!  


How to donate funds to LTB: 

  • Cash: Please do not mail us cash. If you receive cash donations, please deposit them in a bank and either make an online donation or mail us a check following the instructions below.
  • Online Donation: Online donations should be made using LTB’s fundraising tool– donations can be made to any individual fundraiser created by a member of your chapter so that it counts towards the chapter’s collective fundraising goal. For example– you host a bake sale at your school and raise $200. This should be donated to LTB through any individual LTB fundraiser that was created by one of your chapter members, even if it was a collective effort. 
  • Checks: Please make checks payable to Learn To Be Foundation and include your chapter name in the information line so we know to credit the donation to your chapter. All checks should be mailed to:  8605 Santa Monica Blvd #50188 West Hollywood, California 90069
